Welcome back! Today I am writing about a subject that is going to be interesting for a lot of you: staying active and healthy at work.
Take hourly breaks.
Set up a timer and try to go on a little walk around your office every hour. Take a bathroom break, fill up your water cup, go ask a question to a colleague, etc…
Use the stairs instead of the elevator/escalator
Maybe not if you are working on the 40th floor, but you should try to use the stairs more! It is an easy workout that doesn’t require you any additional time!
Instead of emailing or calling your coworker just visit them
I love texting my friends, but it is so much better to spend some face to face time. Well that can work with your relationship with coworkers! Instead of emailing them, just go to their desk. It is easy and will get you up from your desk 🙂
Do some kind of workout before or after work/school
Waking up an hour early or try to find a gym close to your work location so you can go straight after work! You don’t need to spend hours at the gym to get a good workout, most might be done in 30 minutes 🙂
Go on walks during lunch break
An easy way to stay active would be to split your lunch hour to go on a mini walk with your coworkers or friends. It is a good way to catch up and also get that exercise (and steps 🙂 )
Leave your desk for lunch
When I was working at my internship, I used to eat at my desk and I didn’t realise how bad it was. Your brain needs an actual break from screens and just work things!! So please, just go eat outside if it is sunny or in the staff room!
Stretch twice a day
This one sounds a little silly, but stretching a couple times during the day will help with blood circulation and will be good for your muscles. They don’t move a lot when you are sitting all day, so stretching is key!
Eat nuts for snack
Snacks are tricky, I am always craving some kind of chocolate bar (Twix is my FAVOURITE). I find it hard to eat fruits because that is not what I am craving. However, I found a good alternative: Nuts. You can find them in the bulk section of most grocery store and they not super expensive!
Plan your meals and fitness on Sundays
I really love planning and find it super important when it comes to fitness, meal prepping when you have a busy schedule! I use the Fitness Happy Planner, 2/3 of the page is focused on meals for the day and the last third on the workouts. For me, if I write it in my planner, I feel like I have to do it and I will just organise my day around it (Pack my gym clothes when I go to school, …)
Count your step
I personally use a Fitbit that I got for my birthday back in August and I absolutely love it! I particularly like the fact that you can invite friends and do a steps challenge. Being pretty competitive I think it is super fun and no-one wants to lose 🙂
